The Anti-Smartphone, What?!?

Can you imagine yourself having a phone without Social Medial, no games and browser or other app install? With the innovative technology today, I strongly doubt that you can finish a day without updating your status on Facebook and twitter or even checking your email.

But did you know that there is a phone existing opposite to smartphone? It is odd but believe me, soon it will be exist.

The Light Phone, it is slim, light and can last up to 20 days and only can do is to answer a calls. It’s as if the designers of the Sports Illustrated Football Phone had researched the ageless theories of William Walker Atkinson and develop a mobile phone that has been innocent best of the greatest telecommunication unit. And believe it or not, the price is just a $100.

READ: Odd about cellular country complaints

What else does it do? Nothing. You just put the SIM card and press buttons and walla! You can now make some calls and receive. The phone has no games, browsers no NFC. It does only have a quick dial, which is good and it doubles the light compare to other mobile phone so you can use it as a flashlight.

Joe Hollier and Kaiwei Tang develop the unit at Google’s 30 weeks incubator in New York. The creator are both background in design.

Joe Hollier explained, “We started building this because it became very clear that true happiness means being present. This has been written about by so many of the smartest minds since Seneca. So much of our days are spent connected and staring at screens that we are losing that presence in so many situations. We built the Light Phone as a way for people to find balance with their connectedness. It’s not that we think people should never connect again, it’s just that taking a break is extremely healthy in every sense of the word.”

The objective is simple to use the phone as minor as possible. They include a 500 minutes of prepaid talk time and it charges through USB however they actually need you to take it out, make a call and put it back simple as that. They are planning to ship it next year in May 2016.

Because of its affordable and so basic there is no reason to be replaced this phone.

Hollier said, “This phone will likely never need to be replaced by a new model. This project is really about a conversation we want to start. Is where technology is going really the way we want in terms of living our day to day lives in the happiest sense? We are not against tech at all (clearly we joined an incubator and have a passion for this) but we think that maybe we need to put the human first in tech again and think about what kind of tech will make our lives better in the long term. I don’t think the Light Phone is the end all be all answer to this question but it’s our first step in starting the conversation and we have lots of ideas for going forward.”

This is really an odd and do basic phone that will release next year and I’m pretty sure that there will be more unique devices that be announce and release soon, and promise to keep you posted.

Taking care of your phone

Today, smartphones are very important means of communication with others in regular
basis. As proper care is concern this thing you should do to make your smartphone last longer and stays in good shape.

First things first, research broadly before getting a new phone. Because this is very important to find out which features you actually desire in a phone before you get a  new one. Make sure that the phone you want will make you content with, from its features up to the quality of the design. If you buy a phone you really don’t like or get a affordable bundled with a contract you end up getting more careless. If your budget is quite short you may check the cellular country reviews which offer a good quality of refurbished smartphones.

Second, buy a screen protector and hard case. These will do the job in preventing your phone from being scratch and knocks. Also it will help the appearance of your phone looks good as new also protect other internal damages if you accidentally drop your phone.

Third, select a safe place to keep your phone whenever not in use.  It must be a place that is out of the way.  Best place to keep it on the bookshelf or in a desk. It’s a great idea to pick one spot there where it always goes so that you can see it with convenience. Do not put your phone in close container for a long period of time unless the phone is turn off. Charging a phone in a close container will cause a fire and reduce its battery life span.  When it comes to charger and accessories always use the original from the box, you can buy cheaper accessories but most of them are not compatible or made to harm your phone.

Fourth
, always keep your phone dry, avoid carrying your phone near open water, and avoid eating and drinking near your phone.  Clean your phone frequently. Use a dry tissue or alcohol wipes to clean the outer part of your phone.  Don’t use baby wipes, water of other cleaner that may unintentionally add moisture to your beloved phone.

And the last part, Recharge your phone when it drops to 15% and below, don’t drain the battery. Some phones can last up to a week in a single charge, while other need to charge everyday or maybe every other day.  Normally  if you spend too much time in talking to your phone, playing, listening to music, streaming your battery will drain fast so you need to charge it again, when charging its better to turn it off it is quicker.
